Achenbacchanalia!, the sixth annual AGAC Spring Benefit, will be held from 6:00 to 10:00 PM on Saturday evening, May 8th, 2010, at the Old Presidio Golf Club in San Francisco. "Achenbacchanalia" will begin with a cocktail and hors d'oeuvres reception and silent auction featuring works of art and collectable wines, followed by an elegant dinner.
The Achenbach Graphic Arts Council (AGAC)'s Spring Benefit "Achenbacchanalia" will be a gala fundraiser to support the AGAC's Fellowship Program for graduate students studying museum curatorship involving works of art on paper. Fellows work closely with the department curators, investigating aspects of the collection and gaining hands-on experience in research, museum methodology, and exhibition preparation. The AGAC is committed to building a permanent endowment to sustain this valuable program, considered among the top museum education programs in the country. This program has fostered the careers of nine Fellows, all of whom have obtained advanced degrees and now occupy significant positions in museums, academia, and the art world.
The guest of honor will be Christopher Mahoney, Senior Vice President, Photographs, Sotheby’s, New York. Mr. Mahoney will give a short presentation on the current state of the photography market.
Achenbacchanalia! is open to all Fine Arts Museums members and to the public. Invitations will be mailed to AGAC members and others associated with the Fine Arts Museums in late March. Tickets are $150 per person and advance reservations are required. For information please call 415-750-3676. Reservations required by April 24th.
