ABOUT US

The Achenbach Graphics Arts Council (AGAC) was founded in 1971. It serves as the support council for the Achenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts (AFGA) and the collections of works on paper of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. Members of this council enjoy a common interest in prints, drawings, photographs, and artist books.

The AGAC provides financial support assisting the AFGA with new acquisitions for the Museum collection, sponsorship of graduate student fellowships, publishing of exhibition catalogues, and special events. The AGAC office and the world-renowned collection of the AFGA are located in the Legion of Honor, Lincoln Park, San Francisco. An extensive graphics reference library and computerized collection database, including digitized images, are available to members by appointment.

Beginning in 2005, the council embarked on an ambitious campaign to raise a $300,000 endowment to permanently support the postgraduate fellowships and is now more than about half way toward reaching its goal. Currently, the goal has reached a little over $150,000.
